چکیده

Optical wireless communication (OWC) has attracted significant interest recently in academia and industry. Free-space optical (FSO) systems are where free space acts as a channel between transceivers that line of sight (LOS) for the successful transmission signals. The FSO transmissions through atmosphere, nevertheless, bring significant challenges, besides uncertainty atmospheric channels, especially signal fading due to turbulence, attenuation pointing errors caused by random beam misalignments transceivers, obstruction buildings or trees can pre-vent transmitted message reach destination. This study theoretically investigates average symbol error rate (ASER) reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) assisted link over log-normal turbulence channels. RIS effect is examined considering influence distance, power, quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) scheme on ASER.

Average Channel Capacity of Free-space Optical Mimo Systems over Atmospheric Turbulence Channels

In this paper, we theoretically analyze the performance of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) free-space optical (FSO) systems. The MIMO/FSO average channel capacity (ACC), which is expressed in terms of average spectral efficiency (ASE) is derived taking into account the atmospheric turbulence effects on the MIMO/FSO channel. They are modeled by log-normal and the gamma-gamma distributions ...

Rate-Adaptive Free-Space Optical Links Over Atmospheric Turbulence and Misalignment Fading Channels

Atmospheric free-space optical (FSO) transmission using intensity modulation and direct detection (IM/DD) can provide high-speed links for a variety of applications, being an interesting alternative to consider for next generation broadband in order to support large bandwidth, unlicensed spectrum, excellent security, and quick and inexpensive setup [9]. Recently, the use of FSO transmission is ...

Performance analysis of free-space optical communication systems over atmospheric turbulence channels

Turbulence fading is one of the main impairments affecting the operation of free-space optical (FSO) communication systems. The authors study the performance of FSO communication systems, also known as wireless optical communication systems, over log-normal and gamma–gamma atmospheric turbulenceinduced fading channels. These fading models describe the atmospheric turbulence because of its very ...

Pilot-Symbol Assisted Modulation for Correlated Turbulent Free-Space Optical Channels

In free-space optical links using intensity modulation and direct detection, atmospheric turbulence can cause signal fading. Pilot-symbol (PS) assisted modulation (PSAM) can help to mitigate this fading, improving system performance. We periodically insert an On-state PS in front of M-1 information bits and form a M-bit frame. We derive the PS assisted maximum-likelihood (PSA-ML) decision rule ...

Block error rate of optical wireless communication systems over atmospheric turbulence channels

Block error rate performance of subcarrier intensity modulation based optical wireless communication systems is analysed over Gamma–Gamma and lognormal atmospheric turbulence channels. The analysis is applicable to non-coherent binary modulations and coherent binary phase shift keying. The special cases of K-distributed strong turbulence channel and negative exponential turbulence channel are a...
